History
Originally known as a Computer Game Developers Conference, a 1st conference was organized inside 1987 by Chris Crawford and had exclusively plenty attendees to fill Crawford's parlour. When a conference grew both season it moved from either Crawford's front yard to the series of conference web sites. GDC is as well utilized for the annual meeting of the International Game Developers Association. Inside 2002, the GDC reported 10,000 attendees. It was originally held around San Jose, the heart of Silicon Valley. Inside 2005, GDC moved to the new Moscone Center West, in the heart of San Francisco's SOMA district.
